jennifer + mark

Location: Coloma Resort, Coloma, CA

Wedding Style: Intimate campground wedding on the American River, full of blush, ivory, sage and navy

Jen + Mark new the real meaning by their wedding day was what mattered most – and the feeling of true love, understanding, friendship and acceptance between them was palpable.

The rushing South Fork American River provided the most breathtaking scenery for Jennifer + Mark’s big day. They organized a full weekend of activities for their family and friends, including an epic rafting adventure. The couple + all of their friends love camping together, so a campground was the perfect place to say ‘I do’. They even had Chando’s Tacos cater the big day – who doesn’t love a taco truck?!

Shades of blush, ivory, sage, and hints of navy could be seen mingled among the greenery of the Coloma Resort. Dixon Florist created the most gorgeous arrangements of big blooms — Jennifer’s favorite flower, the lovely peony, could be seen all over the tables and in her lush bouquet.

One of the most unique and memorable aspects of the day was the surprise bagpipe player (that was even a secret to their bridal party!) The piper played a full march into the ceremony + played as Jennifer gracefully made her way down the aisle. There wasn’t a dry eye to be found.

With twinkling market lights overhead, the sounds of the flowing river, and the hum of laughter of friends and family, their wedding couldn’t have been sweeter. Sending lots of love and joy to the sweetest couple – Jennifer and Mark, we couldn’t be happier for you!

david + sarah

Location: Silverado Resort Napa, CA

Wedding Style: Elegant Napa wedding, a garden affair of green + whites

Sarah + David just wanted to have a fun wedding! They fell in-love the beauty of the Silverado in Napa and wanted to include lots of greenery + keep it very elegant with white flowers. The dance party was the best part! We will never forget when Sarah and her bridesmaids started a choreographed dance to MC Hammer. They were just the sweetest couple and we enjoyed every bit of planning with them. Their first look was a moment we all dream of, with the sweetest reaction from both the Bride and Groom, photos below for proof!

sarah + max

Location: The Maples, Woodland Ca

Wedding Style: Classic fall wedding with rustic touches and pops of burgundy, sage and navy blue.

Sarah + Max said ‘I do’ in an intimate wedding on the East Coast, and brought the celebration back to the West Coast where they renewed their vows in front of their family and friends. As wedding planners we always have take-aways from every wedding that we like to share (favorite moments, special decor etc) but with Max + Sarah’s wedding there were so many sweet touches throughout the day that we couldn’t just choose one.

The Groom’s Grandfather performed the ceremony, making it so personal and touching, the Bride’s Grandfather’s classic car was brought onsite and used for photos, and the Bride and Groom even included their precious puppies into the wedding by having a custom card box made of the pups. One of my favorite elements of the day was the petal bar. Guests were greeted with a table full of petals and were able to make their own bag of petals to toss during the ceremony. When the Bride and Groom made their way back down the aisle they were showered with petals raining down on them and it made for some fun photos. Congratulations Sarah + Max, your day was beautiful and we are so happy for you!!

bringing the destination to you: palm springs

We are continuing our series on bringing destination weddings to you! This week… Palm Springs! Not everyone can jet out of town for their “I do’s”, so why not bring your dream destination to you?! Here’s some inspiration for the perfect Palm Springs shin-dig…

The Ronnettes blare over the speakers while everyone dances in colorful mini dresses and gogo boots. Every room you’re in is full of mid-century modern furniture, and Palm Springs is in the center of it all. For your wedding, travel back in time to 1960s Palm Springs right from your home town.

The most important part to pulling off this wedding is finding a vintage rental company with mid century modern furniture. Having those accents throughout will make your wedding feel trendy and on theme. In addition, playing with little disco balls on your tablescapes will be the perfect extra touch to your 60s party look.

Get creative with hair and makeup! Do a stylish winged eyeliner and voluminous hair. Allow your guests to have fun, too. Make it an unforgettable extravaganza by opening it up for everyone to wear their favorite 60s look!

And most important, don’t be afraid of color! Let the colors fly + mix and match patterns and prints.

kyle + kent

Location: The Hyatt Regency, Incline Village, Lake Tahoe

Wedding Style: Timeless + Classic Lakeside Wedding. Natural, Organic, Clean, Crisp + Elegant.

Where do we even begin for Kyle + Kent’s big day?! It was the loveliest, fun-filled weekend with the best people and the most beautiful scenery.

Kyle + Kent were married at The Hyatt Regency in Tahoe, which is a very special place for their family. Their guests traveled from out of town (and out of state), so they wanted to ensure their guests not only had a great time at the wedding, but had an entire weekend full of events to enjoy.

The wedding weekend kicked off with a Welcome BBQ at Aspen Grove (a magical and secluded outdoor space full of Aspen trees) where guests mingled with the bride and groom, played lawn games, ate amazing food and danced to a live band!

The wedding day was up next, and it was a stunning day at The Hyatt in Incline Village! Kyle + Kent’s ceremony was lakeside, with a gorgeous backdrop of pine trees, the beach and the lake. They moved into the Laskeside Ballroom for their reception, which was draped in white from floor to ceiling. Their décor and colors were very organic. White florals and greenery accented every table, along with birchwood details and velvet linens.

The next day guests were treated to a fiesta themed beach day where they relaxed under umbrellas, ate tacos and sun bathed water-side.

It was definitely a wedding for the books and was such a pleasure to plan. Kyle + Kent, we wish you all the happiness and joy in your marriage and future together! For more photos on their big day, hop on over to Tahoe Unveiled to view their wedding feature!

the eco friendly wedding – going green

A Wedding Day “How-To” for the couple looking to Save the Date + Save the Earth

Do you want to know what will never go out of style? Being eco-conscious on your wedding day! It’s never been easier to be environmentally friendly, but, where do you start? We’re here to give you a few helpful hints.

Go Local

I know what you’re thinking – You want something original. I think most of the time, our minds go to “honey” when we think local. Don’t get me wrong, we love honey in all its tasty glory, but, you would be surprised at what is actually grown or produced in your own neighborhood; jelly, jams, syrup, olive oil, fruits, veggies, candies. The world is your oyster – just do a little research on what is local to you.

You may be the first one of your friends getting married or somewhere in the mix, but sure enough, you are bound to know someone who has been married before who has décor items they would love to lend or sell. Or, if you’re looking for a larger collection of previously used items, check out to buy + sell your wedding dress + décor, or check out local groups in your area that may be buying + selling wedding items.

Sustainable Paperie

Not ready to commit to electronic invitations? Order beautiful invitations, place cards, and table numbers from organizations that source sustainable materials. Get this – for every order with Paper Culture, they plant a tree. Did you hear that? Every. Single. Order. All of their paperie comes from sustainable materials like recycled paper or bamboo. But, don’t forget the cherry on top – their paperie is gorgeous.

Skip the RSVP Card

Keep the gorgeous paper invitation, and digitize your RSVP. This way, guests can learn more information about the wedding day festivities on your own personal wedding day website + RSVP at the same time. You are saving time and money, and helping the environment by opting out of the RSVP card. Head over to to create your own wedding website and have your guests RSVP in a simple + environmentally friendly fashion.

Use Potted Plants for your Tablescape

We all love lush greenery and gorgeous floral displays, but did you ever think about keeping your floral long after your wedding day? Potted décor will last and adds a fresh element to any tablescape. Try lavender or rosemary, or even house a little citrus tree atop your table. Keep them for your home together or give to family or friends as a token of love.

Work with your venue or caterer to set up recycling stations around the property so that guests can contribute to the cause!

a very merry christmas

A very Merry Christmas to you…

When the quintessential Christmas song starts blasting on the radio, and you hear: “It’s the most wonderful time of the year,” the Alluring Event’s team could not agree more with those words! As planners and designers, we are spoiled by being surrounded by beauty in every wedding event that we plan. There’s something so magically different about the holiday season, however, and the depth of beauty it creates. From spending that extra quality time with friends and family to attending the plethora of holiday parties, ‘tis the season to slow down and take it all in.

Alluring has had an incredible year of beautiful weddings and beautiful clients, and we consider this one giant Christmas gift to ourselves. As wedding season 2018 comes to a close, we very much look forward to 2019 and all of the beauty around the corner. Before we hop into the new year, the girls are winding down, settling in with some hot cocoa, turning on that all-too-cheesy Hallmark movie (again), and enjoying all of the relaxing time with our families.

From the whole Alluring family, Merry Christmas and happiest of holiday seasons.

the classic black + white

Black + White

Make Way for Elegance

Have you ever looked back at family wedding photos and thought, “What were they thinking?” Or maybe, you had a different reaction: “I’m absolutely in love with this — the dress, the veil, the everything!” There is something to be said for a classic look, something that is true to who you are, but timeless.

It’s time to make way for elegance on your wedding day: the age-old classic color palette, black and white, but with a modern twist.

Incorporating black into your color scheme doesn’t mean that your wedding can’t still be light and airy — black isn’t synonymous with dark and moody. Adding gold accents, patterned plates, or matte flatware can provide that upgraded look that draws attention to the details. Better yet, spruce things up by adding a single pop of color or a specific shade for that added flair. Don’t forget the paperie — Keep it simple with black and white tones, but mix it up by making a statement with bold prints on your invitation suite, table numbers, and place cards. Being a timeless + modern day couple never looked so good.

colleen + reed

Location: Chalet View Lodge, Portola / Graeagle

Wedding Style: Rustic + classic summer wedding in the mountains, with jewel tone accents, natural elements and greenery.

Reed + Colleen were married at the Chalet View Lodge, surrounded by pine trees and fresh mountain air. Their “I Do Crew” consisted of sixteen of their closest friends, and they were truly the most supportive group. For the wedding’s design, we wanted to keep in tone with the surroundings, so we used potted plants, garlands of greenery, and rustic wooden farm tables. Jewel tones added pops of color in the florals, napkins, and bridesmaid’s dresses. There was a doughnut bar for dessert and the most delicious food by Butter and Salt Catering. The bride, Colleen, has an amazing voice, and recorded multiple songs for the evening. She even sang live for the Mother + Son dance as her new husband danced with his Mom. A moment that will stick with me forever was the Father Daughter dance – the song Colleen wrote and recorded for her Dad still makes me cry just thinking about it. I must have listened to it five times in a row on the drive to the venue (crying the entire time). As the night went along, it got a little chilly, but that did not deter any of their guests to leave. Everyone bundled up in blankets, got cozy, and celebrated all night. It was so sweet to see couples on the dance floor, wrapped in blankets together. The venue they were married at is a resort that allows you to rent the entire property for your guests, which is exactly what Reed + Colleen did. They were able to have an entire wedding weekend with those they love most. If you are looking for a Northern California wedding (or Tahoe wedding) in the woods, Chalet View Lodge may be perfect for you!

kayla + ryan

Location: Park Winters, Winters California

Wedding Style: Romantic Spring Wedding, Blush, Rose, Feminine, Dreamy, Elegant

Some weddings make you say ‘wow’, and you will definitely be saying ‘wow’ when you see Kayla + Ryan’s Park Winter’s wedding photos below. Kayla + Ryan dated for nearly ten years, so you can imagine how their wedding was a long-awaited celebration for not only them, but everyone in their lives as well. When Kayla and her Mom designed the couple’s luxurious countryside day, they put a lot of thought and effort into every detail. The wedding colors included varying shades of pink and blush, and Dixon Florist knocked it out of the park with the florals – especially the huge floral centerpieces. The table design + layout was one of my favorite aspects of their wedding – I love when a couple is willing to do something out of the box. Guest’s tables were laid out in large “X” patterns, which allowed for show-stopping centerpieces in the very center of each “X”. The photos below speak for themselves; it was a beautiful day with intentional details and thoughtful touches.
