Alluring Events & Design {DIY Table Numbers}

DIY Table Numbers

 Around here we are all about personalizing your big day, and diy’ing some of your décor is a great way to add some personal touches.

I’m always on the look out for a good DIY project and I’ve had my eye on these wooden table numbers for a while now. I knew they would be simple, inexpensive and a perfect project for any skill level, so here we go…

 One– Purchase metal house numbers and the wood from a hardware store

Two– Measure and mark the wood for cutting

Three– Cut wood into pieces/blocks according to the size you desire

Four– Stain or paint the wood to the color you’d like, or leave it as is

Five– Use the nails or screws that come with the numbers to attach them

Six– Stand back and be proud, you’re done!

 There are so many possibilities for these metal house numbers… attach them to old books, bricks, frames, crates, chalkboards and more.  Stain or paint the wood to any shade or color, or spray paint the metal numbers themselves and change the look up! We really love this idea, and it doesn’t get much easier!

Alluring Events & Design {Oscar Favs}

Awards season is a time when designers debut their creations on Hollywood royalty.  This year’s red carpet was the backdrop for many beautiful gowns.  Who knew it would also be the perfect place to get wedding inspiration for your own dress!  White was a huge trend this year at the 2015 Oscars, and there were a few leading ladies in particular that nailed it in this bridal-hue.

The delicately designed details of each dress brought together whimsical romance and high fashion couture.  It was evident that crisp white gowns with clean lines and dresses that sparkled with embellishment were trending this year.

As you begin to plan for your biggest red carpet moment (your wedding day) one of the biggest decisions is what to wear!  So why not look to the work of the expert stylists who dress these leading ladies.

Jennifer Aniston. Need I say more? This beauty always gets it right on the red carpet.  She makes it look easy! The delicate beading on her vintage Versace gown was just the right amount.   The classy-but-sexy slit on a blush-tone dress was simplistically chic.  She may not have had an Oscar nom, but from her simple hair & makeup, to her rose-gold heels, she proved she was a winner.

Reese Witherspoon.  The Wild star and best actress nominee had yet another timeless red carpet moment when she arrived in a black and white Tom Ford creation.  One word can describe this look perfectly. Classic.  The off-the-shoulder sleeves paired with simple, yet stunning, diamond earrings was effortless and on point.  This would be a great inspiration look for any bride to be.

Lupita Nyong’O  Did not disappoint when she showed up to the red carpet in this Calvin Klein masterpiece. And I dont say masterpiece lightly, this was a hand-sewn Francisco Costa design, using over 6,000 pearls.  As last year’s best supporting actress, she must be accustomed to getting it just right, all the way down to her Nicholas Kirkwood heels with Swarovski pearls.  We love seeing her red carpet moments!

Beyonce was the essence of old Hollywood glamour in her sleek white Stella McCartney ensemble which was paired with a light-grey J. Mendel fur stole.  This fur accessory was the perfect complement to the gown.  I can see this look being used as inspiration for a bride tying the knot on a crisp winter day.

Miranda Kerr was elegant and sexy in Emilio Pucci at the Vanity Fair after party.  She was super-model meets greek goddess in a white sheath with a low plunging back and gold detailing.  This look  would be perfect for a warm, summer evening wedding.

Alluring Events & Design {Blueprint Wedding Registry}

Blueprint is an awesome online wedding registry that allows you to register for anything, literally anything! I signed up for “research purposes” {cough:: for the fun of it ::cough} and it was so easy. I was swooning over the ‘featured items’ and all the possibilities it offered. Why didn’t they have Blueprint Registry when I got married?!

Here’s why we love it:
– It is one stop shopping that allows you to add gifts from any website or store
– There is a ‘blueprint button’ (like the ‘pin it’ button on Pinterest) to add items to Blueprint from anywhere
– The site lets you add items by room and decorate your home. Enter the details of your house (like how many rooms you have) then virtually click through and add items you’d like for each room. Then watch it place items and design your space for you! (Hence the name Blueprint)
– It allows cash gifts to be placed in funds created by you such as; a house fund, honeymoon fund or even the charity of your choice
– You can enter your honeymoon information and register for fun things to do on your honeymoon like zip lining! Guests can also purchase other honeymoon items such as hotel nights, dinners and spa treatments.
– There are categories and a ‘favorites’ section so guests know what items you like and need most
– It allows for group gifts so guests can go in on larger items together
– After registering the site creates a custom URL for you to share with your family and friends
– Two weeks after your wedding it sends you a detailed list of who purchased what- making thank you cards so much easier!

Check it out!

Alluring Events & Design Color Trends

A new year means new trends, and it’s our job here at Alluring to keep our brides up to date on the latest and greatest wedding styles and fashions.  Lets start with colors.  Choosing wedding colors can be a tedious and sometimes intimidating task.  The colors you chose define your wedding and set the vibe for the entire event. After researching and looking into the new year, there are a few color palettes that have taken the lead for 2015. Plum & Muted Pink, Plum & Grey, Plum & Navy Blue, Plum & Gold, and Plum & Cream.  Notice a pattern? Plum has definitely takes the cake for 2015.  It’s a deep, rich, and vibrant color that embodies romanticism at its finest.  Pair it with a muted, soft, and neutral color for a whimsical spring wedding.  Or, with another dark tone, like Navy Blue, for an eloquent winter wedding.

Alluring Events & Design {Favorite Trends}

It used to be very known that if you were going to be a guest at a wedding you should be prepared for overcooked chicken and under seasoned vegetables that are entirely overpriced.  Just horrible.  Nothing about weddings are very traditional anymore, and I love it!  These days, wedding food has never been better with so many new out of the box options, like food trucks.  You could hire a food truck for appetizers for cocktail hour or bring one in for a late-night snack towards the end of the night.

“Not only is it fun to have a food truck at your event, it is convenient and unique.  They are a great alternative to conventional cuisine, given that most specialize in a certain type of food.  The diversity of food offered on these trucks is nothing short of incredible.  Some food trucks will allow you to customize your own menu and even name the items being served to your guests.” – My Wedding Reception Ideas

Or no food truck at all — regardless of where your food comes from, you don’t have to have the traditional “wedding meal”.  Whatever your favorite food is, do that.  It adds another personal touch to your wedding and your guests will thank you!
