Have you ever looked back at family wedding photos and thought, “What were they thinking?” Or maybe, you had a different reaction: “I’m absolutely in love with this — the dress, the veil, the everything!” There is something to be said for a classic look, something that is true to who you are, but timeless.
It’s time to make way for elegance on your wedding day: the age-old classic color palette, black and white, but with a modern twist.
Incorporating black into your color scheme doesn’t mean that your wedding can’t still be light and airy — black isn’t synonymous with dark and moody. Adding gold accents, patterned plates, or matte flatware can provide that upgraded look that draws attention to the details. Better yet, spruce things up by adding a single pop of color or a specific shade for that added flair. Don’t forget the paperie — Keep it simple with black and white tones, but mix it up by making a statement with bold prints on your invitation suite, table numbers, and place cards. Being a timeless + modern day couple never looked so good.
Wedding Style: Rustic + classic summer wedding in the mountains, with jewel tone accents, natural elements and greenery.
Reed + Colleen were married at the Chalet View Lodge, surrounded by pine trees and fresh mountain air. Their “I Do Crew” consisted of sixteen of their closest friends, and they were truly the most supportive group. For the wedding’s design, we wanted to keep in tone with the surroundings, so we used potted plants, garlands of greenery, and rustic wooden farm tables. Jewel tones added pops of color in the florals, napkins, and bridesmaid’s dresses. There was a doughnut bar for dessert and the most delicious food by Butter and Salt Catering. The bride, Colleen, has an amazing voice, and recorded multiple songs for the evening. She even sang live for the Mother + Son dance as her new husband danced with his Mom. A moment that will stick with me forever was the Father Daughter dance – the song Colleen wrote and recorded for her Dad still makes me cry just thinking about it. I must have listened to it five times in a row on the drive to the venue (crying the entire time). As the night went along, it got a little chilly, but that did not deter any of their guests to leave. Everyone bundled up in blankets, got cozy, and celebrated all night. It was so sweet to see couples on the dance floor, wrapped in blankets together. The venue they were married at is a resort that allows you to rent the entire property for your guests, which is exactly what Reed + Colleen did. They were able to have an entire wedding weekend with those they love most. If you are looking for a Northern California wedding (or Tahoe wedding) in the woods, Chalet View Lodge may be perfect for you!

Some weddings make you say ‘wow’, and you will definitely be saying ‘wow’ when you see Kayla + Ryan’s Park Winter’s wedding photos below. Kayla + Ryan dated for nearly ten years, so you can imagine how their wedding was a long-awaited celebration for not only them, but everyone in their lives as well. When Kayla and her Mom designed the couple’s luxurious countryside day, they put a lot of thought and effort into every detail. The wedding colors included varying shades of pink and blush, and Dixon Florist knocked it out of the park with the florals – especially the huge floral centerpieces. The table design + layout was one of my favorite aspects of their wedding – I love when a couple is willing to do something out of the box. Guest’s tables were laid out in large “X” patterns, which allowed for show-stopping centerpieces in the very center of each “X”. The photos below speak for themselves; it was a beautiful day with intentional details and thoughtful touches.
The West has always been mesmerized by the exotic, colorful culture of Morocco. From movies like Casablanca, to modern day Sex in the City, Morocco is the background for many love stories. Now your wedding can feel like it’s in the colorful markets of Marrakech, without your guests having to fly for twenty- four hours. From the moment guests arrive at the ceremony you can make them feel transported (with a few tricks). The key is to play with different textiles to create a unique ceremony feel. Having a macramé alter in juxtaposition with a Turkish rug will create a bohemian feel unlike anything found in the U.S. Another trick is to add lanterns throughout the ceremony. Hanging lanterns at the end of the aisle and scattering a few at the alter will add an amazing finishing detail. You can also then repurpose these lanterns at your reception to save money! For a more alternative reception, guests can sit at tables low to the floor on top of cushions. This adds a fun flair and offers a truly unique experience for your guests, ensuring they remember your special day for a lifetime! Imagine filling the space with rugs, lanterns, textiles and gold accents to have a consistent theme throughout. In addition, this theme allows you to experiment and have freedom with color! Get inspired by the spice markets of Marrakech and the Atlas Mountains behind Fez. With Morocco’s one of a kind location, you will find a mixture of both Mediterranean and desert influence, opening your big day up to a world of creative possibility!
It’s that time of year, when the leaves begin to change, we cozy up in blankets, and reflect on the things we hold near and dear to our hearts. The ladies of Alluring Events have A LOT to be thankful for. We are so thankful for you – our couples, clients, followers, friends, and all of the wonderful people we have had the privilege of sharing the year with.
Our couples have taken us on exciting adventures, standing in awe of the beauty of Tahoe, running through the vines of wine country in Napa, exploring Palm Springs and all of the beautiful venues in between. We love that we get to be more than just planners – we get to meet, listen, and learn from our couples and share in one of the most beautiful and special days. From the heartfelt emotion we’ve seen during the First Look, or the brilliantly choreographed dances from the bridal party, we are so thankful for all of the happy tears and belly laughs this year gave us. We are here because of you, and couldn’t be more grateful you chose us to stand by your side (or rather, watching in the wings), cheering for you on your wedding day.
We wish you a Thanksgiving week full of peace, gratitude, joy + delicious food!
(It’s not often you hear from us individually, but we would each like to share a few things that have warmed our hearts this year. So, without further ado…)
Aubrey – I am thankful for my family, friends, health + home. I am especially grateful for my girl tribe at Alluring Events. Surrounding myself with such kind + creative people gives me joy + recharges me. I am also thankful to finally be launching Grace + White Bridal in 2019! Also, I am grateful that we can finally watch the final season of Game of Thrones in a few months.
Rachele – This year I am very grateful for my friends + the tribe who surrounds me, they give unconditional support, strength + comfort. I am thankful for my puppy who brings so much joy (+ the best cuddles) and for a profession I genuinely love. I also feel especially grateful for my husband, who is the true definition of devotion. And bacon, I am definitely thankful for bacon.
Sarah – I am thankful for my children + husband + my extended family through Alluring who inspire you me every day. Of course, I am thankful for girl’s night filled with tons of laughter and for wine…always wine.
Lonnie – I’m thankful for relentless encouragement from my husband, fast and faithful friends + family, and my dancing feet. I never want to skip Thanksgiving altogether, but I’m also really thankful that Christmas is almost here — Santa is an old personal friend of mine, and I can’t wait to see him this year.
Kelsey – This year, I am incredibly thankful for this new opportunity with Alluring! I couldn’t ask for a better group of ladies to share this with. I am also thankful for my always incredible + supportive husband (who thinks I’m crazy + too OCD), my sweet doggo, Nola, who’s ready to snuggle with me every night, and jiu jitsu, for providing me a physical outlet to recharge (sorry for all the bruises and odd looks everyone!)….And wine, cannot forget the wine.
Amy – I am grateful for my cozy, safe home. For my incredibly loving family, (especially Baby BE) and my amazing friends. I’m grateful for the opportunity I’ve had to travel to beautiful places near and far this year, and for the connections I’ve created with so many amazing couples this year at Alluring. I’d also like to mention that I’m SUPER grateful for the amazing team of girls that makes Alluring’s wedding season so fun AND the late night Taco Bell drive-thru… #sorrynotsorry.
Kayleigh – I am thankful for my incredible and supportive husband, my amazingly sassy little girl, my new little baby-love arriving next month and my favorite cuddle partner, Bo Bear (my dog). I am so blessed to work with not only strong driven women, but some of the most kind genuine souls I’ve ever met. Oh, and I am also thankful that I can finally drink wine again next month. Cheers!
Lauren – I’m so thankful for my healthy, happy family. I’m thankful for my husband and our little boy, Lake. I’m grateful I get to work in an industry with a brilliant team of girls who are passionate about what they do. Yay Alluring! And I’m so thankful I’m able to take time off as we welcome our new baby boy in a few months!
Montana – This year, the little moments fill my heart with gratitude. Whether it is making dinner with a friend, a good cup of coffee in the morning or a random act of kindness from the people I love, every day it is the small things that make me overwhelmingly grateful for my community.
Wedding Style: Napa Valley, chic, classic, elegant, simplistic, sophisticated. Natural setting with green + white florals, vineyard surrounding the venue, working ranch
Melanie + Sawyer were married on one of the hottest days of the year. It was an unexpected heatwave that hadn’t been forecasted at all. It reached 113 degrees to be exact. Their venue was Beltane Ranch, a beautiful piece of property set amongst the vineyards in Glen Ellen, CA. It’s a working ranch that has been passed down from generation to generation. It’s authenticity is evident in every little detail around the property. Melanie was the epitome of a cool, calm collected bride, and Sawyer was the sweetest groom. They stayed just as sweet and calm even amongst the craziness of last minute time changes to try and beat some of the heat. We pushed the start time back by an hour, and every vendor was on board and so wonderful to work with! Melanie & Sawyer’s style for the day reflected their personalities: classic, sophisticated, and clean. We brought in Bliss Pops as a last minute vendor to serve delicious homemade popsicles to guests as they arrived. They were a hit to say the least! I loved working with Melanie & Sawyer!
Location: The Hyatt Incline Village, North Lake Tahoe
Wedding Style: A Spring wedding, lakeside with timeless details. The colors included blush, creams, sage and silver accents.
Ashley + Austin’s lakeside wedding was a sweet affair filled with their closest family and friends who spent the entire weekend together at The Hyatt Incline Village, how fun?!
The groom’s reaction during the first look brought all of us to tears. (You’d think we were immune to tears at this point, but we still cry – every time).
The day could not have been more lovely. The views during ceremony were beautiful and their sunset photos on the lake were stunning. Ashley and Austin were surrounded by the most wonderful group and their love for each other was obvious to everyone.
Wedding Style: An intimate + organic wedding filled with natural greens and crisp whites.
Katie + Def had a beautiful and extremely meaningful ceremony + al fresco dinner for 12 of their closest family members (including their two super cute boys).
As wedding planners we hear a LOT of vows, personally written, and beautifully read. Katie + Def’s were just that, they simply wow’ed us. Their vows were so sincere, heartfelt, authentic and intentional that they left a lasting effect on all of us. Those are the moments that make us extremely grateful for our jobs and honored to share in such intimate moments.
Not to mention the sweetest moment during the ceremony, right before the kiss, when Def asked the boy’s permission to kiss Katie. The boy’s giggly and joyful reaction was priceless!
The tablescape consisted of potted greens and succulents accented with natural elements like concrete and tin. Candles were mixed into the botanical centerpieces, and pops of pink were added into the bride’s bouquet to add a little fun. It was the loveliest day.

Having a destination wedding is like a romantic dream. You imagine being in a foreign city, surrounded by jaw dropping scenery with all the people you love. While this sounds like an amazing idea, it just isn’t in the cards for everyone.
After one of our wedding planners returned home from a glamorous trip to Bali we got to thinking… How can we bring Bali to us? Now in this new series of upcoming blog posts, we will be giving you inspiration and ideas on how to bring in elements of a destination right at home! Our first stop: Bali.
To transport your guests to Bali, you can add small tropical details and vibrant colors to make a big effect. Cocktail hour can consist of drinking out of coconuts and lounging in tents. Try incorporating bamboo chairs as well as palm leaves into the florals. Make your guests forget they actually only live 20 minutes down the road!
However, the most important part of a Bali wedding is to have a free spirit. The people of Bali are in the moment and care free, so maybe look into a wedding planner to make sure that you can sit back and enjoy your wedding day—Bali style!
